CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Rogers State women's soccer team scored three goals in the final 18 minutes to pull away for a 4-1 victory over St. Mary's on Thursday night (Sept. 14) at Soldier Field. With the win, the Hillcats move to 5-0 on the season for the first time since 2009.

With the score tied at 1-1, Marlaina Trahant scored the game-winning goal, her third goal in the last two games, in the 73rd minute on a header right in front of the goal on a perfect throw in from Madison Murray for a 2-1 edge.

The Hillcats struck again only five minutes later when junior Jordan Downing scored her first goal in the navy and red on a strike to the near post over the top of the goalkeeper after a quick turn and fire. The goal in the 78th minute put the navy and red up 3-1.

In the 89th minute, RSU added one more tally for the 4-1 margin when BreAnn Tolleson sent in a goal off a free kick from about 30 yards from Melissa Cardenas.

The Cats completed dominated the contest. The navy and red scored the first goal of the game in the 19th minute on a header from Daisy Cardona, her team-leading fifth tally of the season, after Cardenas flicked the ball near the goal.

The first half was all Hillcats as they held a 7-0 advantage in shots.

The Rattlers evened the score at 1-1 in the 53rd minute on their first shot of the game. StMU was awarded a free kick at the top of the box and Roxy Cruz Santory converted on a shot that went over the top of RSU goalkeeper Taylor Sargent. The goal was the first allowed all season by the Hillcats, ending a 412 minute scoreless streak to start the season.

For the game, RSU held a huge 21-4 advantage in shots, including 12 shots on goal. Although the Rattlers managed only four shots, three were on goal.

Sargent started in goal and went the full 90 minutes. She allowed her first goal all season, but totaled two saves in the win.
