CLAREMORE — The Rogers State men's and women's basketball teams announced its 2017-18 schedules. The schedules are highlighted by exhibition games against NCAA Division I Texas State and North Texas. Between the two programs, the 2017-18 schedules include 28 home contests at the Claremore Expo Center.
Hillcat Club memberships for the 2017-18 basketball season are now offered for purchase or renewal. Memberships can now be purchased online. For more information on becoming a Hillcat Club member, visit www.rsuhillcats.com/HillcatClub. The deadline for Hillcat Club membership is Friday, Oct. 13.
The men's season starts with one of its two exhibition games against an NCAA Division I program as the Hillcats travel to Texas State on Nov. 4 for a 7 p.m. tip in San Marcos, Texas in Strahan Coliseum.
The women's home slate starts during the opening weekend of the regular season when the Hillcats host the Holiday Inn Express – Claremore Conference Challenge at the Claremore Expo Center. The two-day event includes RSU and Heartland Conference foe Newman along with Western New Mexico of the Lone Star Conference and New Mexico Highlands of the RMAC. RSU opens the season with Western New Mexico on Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. and takes on New Mexico Highlands on Nov. 11 at 6 p.m.
RSU men's basketball begins the regular season in Pueblo, Colo. at a conference challenge hosted by Colorado State-Pueblo. The Cats start the season with the host Thunderwolves at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10. The next day the navy and red play Midwestern State at 6 p.m.
After the conference challenges, the Hillcats go to in-state rival Northeastern State on Nov. 15 in Tahlequah, Okla. The women's team starts the doubleheader at 5:30 p.m. with the men's game to follow at 7:30 p.m. A fan bus will be available for the trip.
For the annual homecoming game, RSU clashes with St. Gregory's on Nov. 18 at the Claremore Expo Center. The doubleheader starts at 2 p.m.
The RSU men compete in their second exhibition against NCAA Division I competition on Nov. 22 at North Texas in Denton, Texas.
The Hillcats host a doubleheader during the Thanksgiving weekend on Saturday, Nov. 25. It starts with a 2 p.m. women's game against Oklahoma Baptist. The men's team plays Randall at 4 p.m.
In a single men's game on Nov. 27, RSU welcomes Bacone College to the Claremore Expo Center for a 7 p.m. contest.
RSU opens Heartland Conference action on Nov. 30 at UA Fort Smith. The women's game starts the doubleheader at 5:30 p.m.
The navy and red returns home for the final nonconference doubleheader of the year on Dec. 2 against two MIAA opponents. The Hillcat women host Southwest Baptist to start at 2 p.m. with the men's game against Emporia State at 4 p.m.
The final home game of 2017 for the women's team is Dec. 9 with Southeastern Oklahoma State as 2 p.m. The Cats then go on the road for four-straight matchups. RSU goes to East Central (Dec. 12), Ouachita Baptist (Dec. 15) and Henderson State (Dec. 16) before the holiday break. To start the New Year, the Hillcats continue league play at Newman on Jan. 4 in Wichita, Kan.
The RSU men host their final two nonconference home games to end December. The Cats welcome Cameron on Dec. 19 at 12 p.m. and after the holiday break; take on Central Oklahoma on Dec. 30 at 4 p.m.
After the trip to Newman, the men return home to play Dallas Baptist University on Jan. 6. Both teams are at home on Jan. 11 against Lubbock Christian. Two days later, the Cats are at St. Edward's on Jan. 13 in Austin, Texas.
The longest homestand for the Hillcats starts on Jan. 18 against St. Mary's. Texas A&M International makes the long trip for a Saturday afternoon doubleheader on Jan. 20. The three-game home conference stretch concludes with UAFS on Jan. 24. The women's team stays at home for a nonconference game against Randall on Jan. 30 at 6 p.m.
After a home contest against SEU on Feb. 8 in Claremore, the navy and red take to the road for three straight contests. The Cats go to LCU on Feb. 10, StMU on Feb. 15 and TAMIU on Feb. 17 for the road trip.
RSU returns home for the final two home games of the season. Newman comes to town on Feb. 21 for a doubleheader. Senior Day is set for Feb. 24 against OC in the final regular season game of the season.
For the third straight season, the Heartland Conference Tournament will take place in Tulsa, Okla. at the Union Multipurpose Activities Center. The tournament is scheduled for March 1-4.
