CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State's Head Men's Basketball Coach Justin Barkley was named to the 2018 Rogers County 40 Under 40 Class by the Claremore Progress.

"We are more than excited to see Justin named to the 40 under 40," RSU Director of Athletics Chris Ratcliff said. "Now everyone in the community knows what we've always known about Justin for a long time. He's an outstanding person and does so much for the RSU and Claremore community. We in the RSU Athletic Department want to congratulate him on the well-deserved honor."

Barkley enters his ninth season as the head coach of the RSU men's basketball program and since taking over the program in 2010, he has gone 163-76 overall as the all-time winningest coach in program history for a .682 winning percentage. RSU has been dominant on its home floor at the Claremore Expo Center posting a 98-19 record during Barkley's tenure for a .838 winning percentage.

Barkley guided RSU to its first-ever Heartland league championship in the 2015-16 season, and he was named the Heartland Conference Coach of the Year after going 23-5. The Hillcats totaled three straight Heartland Conference Players of the Year in Jeylyn Sharpe (2016-17), JC Hartzler (2015-16) and Frederico Santos (2014-15) and one Heartland Newcomer of the Year during his time as the RSU head coach. Under Barkley's guidance, the Cats have totaled three All-Americans, five all-district selections and 22 all-conference picks.

Barkley is the second member of the 40 Under 40 from the RSU Athletic Department after RSU Association Athletic Director for External Operations and Senior Woman Administrator Sara Braun was part of the inaugural 2017 class.

This year's Rogers County 40 Under 40 honorees represent outstanding individuals in all facets of the community from education, manufacturing, newspaper, government, tourism, media and small business.

The 40 Under 40 award recipients were honored in an award ceremony and reception Aug. 23 at the Will Rogers Memorial Museum.
