OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Sophomore Luke Palmowski sits in third place individually and the Rogers State men's golf team is fifth as a team out of eight after 36 holes with a score of 568 at the GAC Preview at the North Course at Lake Hefner Golf Course. The third round is set for tomorrow morning to finish the tournament.
The 568 mark is the second lowest 36-hole total in program history behind the 36-hole mark set last year at the Heartland Conference Championships (566) when the Hillcats won the league title.
Palmowski, who was the Heartland Conference Freshman of the Year last season, opened his sophomore campaign with a round of 5-under-par 67 in the first round. In the second round, the sophomore posted a score of 2-under 70 for a two-round tally of 7-under-par 137 to rank third in the field.
In his first collegiate tournament, freshman Edwin Blomander sits in 15th overall at 2-under-par 142. Blomander began his collegiate career with a 3-under-par 69 in the first round and then shot a score of 1-over-par 73.
Senior Patrick Bart shot back-to-back scores of even par 72s for a 36-hole total of 144. He is 21st overall in the field.
Sophomore Gonzalo Chaves is currently in the 26th spot overall with a two-round score of 1-over-par 145. He carded a round of 1-over-par 73 in the first round. In his second round, Chaves put together a round of even par 72.
Sophomore Peter Cummins registered a round of 6-over-par 78 to start his day and then improved to card a 2-over-par 74 in the second round to finish at 8-over-par 152 in the first day of the tournament.
Playing as individuals, Ewen Delample and Dalton Northcutt both rank 21st overall at even par 144. Delample posted two consecutive rounds of even par 72. Northcutt turned in a 1-over-par 73 in the first round, and then shot 1-under-par 71 in the second round for the even par 36-hole mark.
Southern Arkansas holds the team lead at 551 through two rounds with three golfers in the top 10. Rman Timmerman holds the lead on the field at 11-under-par 133. Zach James of Southeastern Oklahoma is one shot back in second place at 10-under-par 134.
The final round of the GAC Preview is tomorrow morning at the Hefner Lake Golf Club.
