KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Rogers State women's soccer team was ranked in the NCAA Division II South Central Region poll for the first time in program history as announced by the United Soccer Coaches on Tuesday (Oct. 17). The Hillcats were ranked ninth in the week seven poll.

RSU moved into the rankings after a 1-0-1 week against Heartland Conference elite and regionally ranked opponents in Dallas Baptist University and St. Edward's. The Cats notched their first-ever win over the Hilltoppers, the 2016 Heartland Conference champion, on Saturday in a 2-1 victory on Senior Day at Soldier Field. RSU played to a 1-1 draw with DBU, which is ranked No. 4 in the region, on Thursday.

After the strong week, two Hillcats earned Heartland Conference Player of the Week honors. Freshman Hannah Mushisky was named the offensive player of the week, and junior Taylor Sargent was selected as the defensive player of the week.

The navy and red are currently 10-3-1 overall this season, and 6-3-1 in the Heartland Conference to rank second in the league standings. The Cats are currently on a four-game unbeaten streak. RSU concludes the regular season with four straight road contests.

Midwestern State topped the regional poll with Regis in second. Colorado Mines, DBU and Angelo State rounded out the top five. UC-Colorado Springs, St. Edward's, Texas A&M – Commerce, RSU and West Texas A&M took the six through 10 spots in the standings.

In only their second year as a full member of NCAA Division II, the Cats were ranked in the region for the first time in program history.
