The wintry blast of weather Thursday and Friday forced postponement of all the high school football playoffs.

The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association moved the weekend games to Monday and Tuesday.

The Class 3A finals between Claremore Sequoyah and Marlow will be played at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Edmond’s Wantland Stadium, on the campus of the University of Central Oklahoma.

Weather-related postponements of Oklahoma football title games are rare. In 1992, four title games were delayed — one for a week — because of snowy and icy conditions, including the 4A game between archrivals Weatherford and Clinton, which are located only 15 miles apart in western Oklahoma. Weatherford won that meeting, 21-6.

In 1983, an ice storm led to a two-day delay of the Class B final between Turpin and Pernell, which Pernell won.

Before that, the previous weather-related postponement came in 1958, when a snowstorm delayed the Class A final between Ada and Cushing. A week later, Cushing won, 9-7, in one of the biggest upsets in state history.
