ADAIR — The Claremore Sequoyah boys and girls opened their high school basketball schedules Wednesday night with easy victories in the first round of the Adair tournament.

The Sequoyah boys jumped on Ketchum in the first quarter and rolled to an 80-22 victory.

Megan Fuller scored 29 points and powered the Sequoyah Lady Eagles past Wyandotte, 59-39.

The Lady Eagles take on top-seeded Adair at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in a semifinal match.

The boys advance to a semifinal pairing against Chelsea at 9 p.m. Friday.

As Lady Eagles coach Russell Morgan said, “Megan Fuller filled up a stat line.” In addition to her 29 points, the 6-0 sophomore had 12 rebounds, four blocked shots, four steals and three assists.

“She really performed well,” Morgan said.

“We looked pretty good overall. Our defense did a great job, and we executed our press real well.”

In the boys game, Sequoyah was playing just 48 hours after winning the Class 3A football state championship in Edmond.

Blake Breshears made the transition with 15 points to lead all scorers.

Sequoyah took a 20-6 first-period lead and expanded that to 48-10 at halftime. Eleven Eagles scored.

“We controlled the boards,” Sequoyah coach Scott Kiker said. “With the rebounds and the steals, we got the ball out and ran with it.”
