CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State forward Jake Simpson was named to the 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Men's Soccer First Team as announced by CoSIDA.
Simpson, a junior from Cambridge, England, paced the Hillcats in scoring in 2017 with five goals in 13 starts as he missed some time due to injury. The two-time All-Heartland Conference selection scored one game-winning goal on the year and led the team in shots and shots on goal. Simpson has been the top offensive threat for the navy and red for two straight seasons after posting seven goals during his first season on the Hill in 2016.
In the classroom, Simpson posted a 3.54 grade point average as a sports management major. This is Simpson's first CoSIDA Academic All-District selection in his first year eligible for the honor.
The Hillcats finished with an 8-7-3 record overall in 2017 and went 5-6-3 in Heartland Conference play.
