TULSA — It was no surprise that the Claremore girls soccer team dominated Tulsa Rogers in a 10-0 match Monday night.
The Lady Zebras, 2016 state champs and 2017 state runners-up, won 10-0 for the third time in the last four games and are now 5-1 on the season.
Monday’s game was all Claremore. Jenna Brown scored four goals and Taryn Kedzior had three goals and six assists in the rout. Alaina Maulsby, Julia Teter and Grace Brasfield all have a goal. Maulsby, Teter, Brown and Kassidy Hannah all added an assist.
Claremore will now play at Bixby on Thursday, March 15 in the final game before spring break. They will start district play with a home game against Metro Christian on March 26. Five of their seven district games will be at home.
Rogers boys 2, Claremore 1 — Still reeling from a rash of early-season injuries, the Claremore boys soccer team lost a tough 2-1 decision at Tulsa Rogers Monday night.
Rogers scored in the first half and and then again 10 minutes into the second half for a 2-0 lead.
Fab freshman Tony Mota got Claremore on the board with a free kick midway through the second half, but the Zebras couldn’t get the equalizer.
“They are a very talanted team,” Claremore boys coach Alan Douthitt said. “We ended up changing formations with about 15 minutes remaining to try and manufacture a goal, but were unsuccessful. We did generate more offense late and I was proud of how hard my kids fought until the end.”
Douthitt is ready to get a healthy team on the field for games such as this.
“It’s a shame that we had to play them early in the season as beat up as we are,” he said. “I would love to have the chance to play them with a healthy full squad, but that’s just not the way it’s played out for us so far this season.”
