OOLOGAH — Claremore went 3-2 at the Oologah Softball Tournament over the weekend, improving its overall record to 11-8.

Claremore defeated Vinita 4-1 on Friday and then went 2-2 on Saturday.

Oologah shut out Claremore 7-0 to start the day as Oologah's Kenzie Chacon struck out 11 and allowed just two hits. Oologah scored five in the fifth to break open a tight game.

Claremore then edged Mannford 6-5 in a wild one. Trailing 5-0 heading into the bottom of the final inning, the Lady Zebras made their move.

Kaleigh Schumacher opened the inning with a solo homer to left and it was 5-1. Terran Schornick and Alexis Williams singled, and two batters later, an error allowed Schornick to score. It was 5-2. Holland Rader hit a two-out single to load the bases. An error on a Bailey Whisenhunt grounder scored Maddox Thomas and it was 5-3. A bases-loaded walk by Alyssa Poorboy cut the lead to 5-4. And it finished where it started, with Schumacher getting a big two-run single to center, scoring two for the game-winner.

Schumacher also got the win in relief. She allowed four runs on four hits in two innings. Zowie Davis started the game, allowed one run on four hits in three innings.

Claremore then played neighboring Claremore Sequoyah and it was another tight game that came down to the bottom of the fifth inning.

Kayleigh Jones singled in a run in the first for Sequoyah, and Claremore answered with a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the first to take a 2-1 lead.

Sequoyah tied the game in the top of the fourth on a Kennedi Christian RBI-single. In the bottom of the fifth, Williams stroked a solo home run to center for a 3-2 lead. Davis got the Eagles out in the top of the sixth for the win.

Ariel Thompson took the hard-luck loss in the circle for Sequoyah, She struck out nine and allowed just one earned run.

Davis got the win for Claremore, allowing one hit in 1 2/3 innings. Schumacher started the game, allowing two runs on six hits. Sequoyah out-hit Claremore 7-3.

Grove took a 6-4 lead in the fourth and held on for the win over the Zebras. Rader and Schornick were each 2-for-3. Poorboy took the loss in the circle, allowing six earned runs on 10 hits.
