ADAIR — Oologah turned a close game into a blowout after doubling up Adair in the second quarter of Thursday night's high school boys basketball game.
Oologah led by four points early, but poured it on with an 18-9 run in the second quarter, taking a 37-24 lead in at the break.
Led by Konnor Davis's 24 points, the Mustangs pulled away even farther in the fourth, holding Adair to just seven points in the 61-45 victory.
Ethan Morton scored 14 points for the Mustangs and Chase Gibson added 8.
Adair girls 71, Oologah 44 — No. 1 (3A) Adair proved it belongs atop the rankings after handling No. 20 (4A) Oologah 71-44 Thursday night.
Adair had four players in double figures as the home team took a 40-23 lead at the half and cruised the rest of the way.
Karly Wadsworth and Payton Thompson each had 13 for the Lady Mustangs.
Vinita girls 59, Claremore Sequoyah 28 — Eleventh-ranked Vinita took control of Thursday's game early against Claremore Sequoyah, jumping out to a 34-11 halftime lead on their way to a 31-point victory.
Sequoyah had trouble scoring throughout the game, but played even in the fourth.
Ashlee Sanders scored 15 for Sequoyah, and Avery Tuckewr added 11. The duo scored all but two of the Lady Eagles' points.
Vinita boys 59, Claremore Sequoyah 45 — Claremore Sequoyah’s Josh Sabharwall scored 15 points to lead the Claremore Sequoyah boys Thursday night, but it wasn't enough against Vinita in a 59-45 loss.
The game was tight through the first three quarters.
Sequoyah trailed by one at the half and by only three heading into the fourth quarter.
But Vinita outscored the Eagles 16-5 in the fourth quarter.
