McALESTER — The Verdigris Lady Cardinals continued along the unbeaten path Thursday, routing Morris, 60-31, in the opening round of the 15th girls basketball Tournament of Champions at the Southeast Expo Center.

Cassie Clarke scored 22 points and the Lady Cardinals registered their 11th victory.

Verdigris advanced to Friday night’s semifinals against Chouteau, a 55-47 winner over Edmond Memorial.

Clarke and the Lady Cardinals got off to a big start, and never let Morris score in double figures until the final period against the reserves.

Clarke hit four of five attempts from three-point range. The 6-0 sophomore also collected 11 rebounds.

Behind Clarke, the Verdigris scoring was balanced, with four players ranging from six to nine points.

Morris fell to 4-5.
