Tulsa Memorial head football coach Tony Daniels announced his resignation and will take over the Verdigris Cardinals football program in 2013.
After five seasons at Tulsa Memorial, Daniels succeeds former Verdigris head coach Dan Nickles, who stepped down after nine years to become the defensive coordinator in Bartlesville.
In 2012, Daniels helped lead the Memorial Chargers to the Class 5A state playoffs where they lost to Claremore, 35-26.
During his tenure at Memorial, which started as an assistant coach, Daniels was 20-30 — including 8-3 in 2012.
This past season, Daniels led the Chargers to their first winning season since 1989.
Daniels inherits a Verdigris football program that went 10-2 this past season and advanced to the Class 3A state playoffs.
The Cardinals were 69-35 in nine years under Nickles.
