Lady Cards place 3rd in Jerry Oquin Tourney

INOLA — Verdigris senior point guard Baileigh O’Dell scored a game-high 25 points to spark the Lady Cardinals to a third-place finish Saturday afternoon in the Jerry Oquin Tournament.

O’Dell’s all-tournament performance helped Verdigris coast past the Inola Lady Longhorns, 60-44.

Verdigris built a 13-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and then outscored Inola, 12-8 in the second quarter to extend the margin to 25-16 at halftime.

A 26-point third quarter, in which Verdigris’ full-court pressure defense got to Inola, allowed O’Dell, Caitlyn Hanslovan and Keara Battenfield to score a majority of their points in transitiion.

Hanslovan and Battenfield joined O’Dell in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Verdigris carried a 51-31 lead into the fourth quarter.

Lexi Williams, a senior point guard from Bixby, spearheaded the Inola scoring with 13 points. Lindsey Byfield also contributed in double figures with 13 points.

Kristen Mootry also had seven points and Chandler Ford responded with five for Inola.

Down the stretch, the Lady Cardinals got offensive production from Courtney Risenhoover with nine points and Taylor Beck with five.
