Cardinals clobber Dewey

DEWEY — The Verdigris Cardinals continued their chase toward a Class 3A state championship with an impressive 35-0 win over Dewey in District 3A-5 play Friday night.

Quarterback Dakota Brasher fired three touchdown passes to Ryan Hurd and J.D. Hanslovan added a touchdown run as the Cardinals improved to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in district.

Hanslovan’s 71-yard touchdown run in the first quarter put Verdigris ahead 7-0. The margin grew to 14-0 as Tanner Boles added an 11-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

Brasher tossed touchdown passes of 68, 47 and 25 yards to Hurd as Verdigris stormed to 21 unanswered points in the second half.
