CLAREMORE — Playing without their senior captain — Cailin Caldwell — the No. 1-ranked Claremore Lady Zebras shutout Sapulpa, 3-0 Friday evening in non-conference action at Lantow Field.

Caldwell missed the game due to a cheerleading event at the University of Oklahoma in Norman.

The Lady Zebras came out firing early in the first half with sophomore forward Taylor Williams pushing the ball past Sapulpa’s defense and driving home the assist from Jordan Pettay to put Claremore ahead 1-0.

Claremore’s defense — led by midfielders Katelin Teeter and Chandler Payne — kept Sapulpa’s Ally Casey limited to shots on goal. Goalkeeper Brylee Brasher was flawless in the net and finished with seven saves before giving way to Kailee Dobbins late in the second half.

Williams tallied her second goal right out the gate following intermission, taking a pass from Teeter and pushing the ball past Sapulpa senior goalkeeper Sade Benjamim to put Claremore up 2-0.

The Lady Zebras capped their scoring minutes later on Payne’s unassisted goal.

The win improved Claremore to 4-0 on the season.
