NSU football releases 2013 schedule

TAHLEQUAH — Northeastern State football head coach Kenny Evans announced the RiverHawks’ 2013 schedule on Tuesday.

The RiverHawks are set to play all 10 opponents from last season, while adding an additional non-conference home game. NSU will play five games on the road and six games on Gable Field inside Doc Wadley Stadium.

The team will bring the longest current win streak in the MIAA into the new season, as the green and white finished last year on a four-game win streak.

Northeastern State will open the 2013 campaign at 7 p.m. Sept. 7 at Pittsburg State, and the team will have its home opener at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 14 against Missouri Southern State.

The matchup with the Lions will be televised on the MIAA Network and will be the MIAA Game of the Week.

NSU will then play host to Washburn at 6 p.m. on Sept. 21, followed by a road trip to Emporia, Kan., to play Emporia State at 1 p.m. on Sept. 28.

The month of October brings Northwest Missouri State to Tahlequah for NSU’s Homecoming at 2 p.m. on Oct. 5. NSU will then travel to Missouri Western on Oct. 12 for a 1:30 p.m. contest.

The RiverHawks will step out of MIAA action for the lone time when they host to Eastern New Mexico on Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. NSU will then travel to Warrensburg, Mo., Oct. 26 for a meeting with Central Missouri.

Northeastern State will play at home in two of the final three weeks of the season, starting with a 2 p.m. matchup Nov. 2 with Southwest Baptist. NSU will travel to Lincoln Nov. 9, and the team will close out the season at 1 p.m. Nov. 16 against Central Oklahoma.
