From the left-side of home plate, senior left fielder Krista Wolfe can be a dangerous offensive weapon for the Claremore Lady Zebras.
On Monday, Wolfe went 4-for-4 with seven RBIs to lead the Lady Zebras past Vinita, 13-1 in their home opener. With the win, the Lady Zebras improved to 2-0 on the season.
Wolfe’s RBI-double — one of three in the game — got things rolling for the Lady Zebras in the bottom of the first inning.
Staring down a 1-2 count from Vinita left-handed pitcher Delaney Roulette, Wolfe delivered a run-scoring, two-bagger to left-center field that scored Madison Bright to put Claremore ahead 1-0.
Vinita, though, evened the score at 1-1 in the top of the second inning on Kayage Minor’s lead-off single that resulted in the Lady Hornets’ first run. Minor advanced to second on Keelie Dixon’s sacrifice bunt and then moved to third base on the sacrifice groundout to Claremore pitcher Stephanie Schivally.
On the putout, Claremore first baseman Hailey Seago attempted to throw out Minor at third base but the throw soared over the glove of third baseman Erica Spencer, allowing Minor to cross home plate.
Ally Johnson’s RBI-single in the bottom of the second helped Claremore regain the 2-1 lead.
Then, in the bottom of the third, Claremore erupted for six runs on seven hits to lead 9-1.
Wolfe’s two-run double followed by Schivally’s two-run single highlighted the third for the Lady Zebras.
Seago also contributed with an RBI-double off the left field wall.
In the circle, Schivally tossed 84 pitches in five innings to earn her first win of the season. The senior right-hander allowed one run on three hits with four strikeouts.
Claremore’s offense tallied its final four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Wolfe’s three-run double to shallow left field plated Ally Johnson, McKenzie Couch and Bright to put Claremore ahead 13-1.
All four of Claremore’s runs in the inning were scored with two outs.
Along with Wolfe, Claremore was led offensively by Seago with a 2-for-3 outing. Seago recorded a single and double in the game.
