The Verdigris Junior High School Cardinals needed only three innings to clinch the championship of the Sequoyah Tournament Friday evening.
Verdigris tallied 11 runs in the bottom of the second inning to dominate Pryor, 13-0.
After a taking a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on Brooks Haddock’s RBI-double to left-center field, the Cardinals applied heavy pressure to Pryor in the second with 11 runs on seven hits.
Brady Smith and Kyle Lahmeyer tallied a pair of two-run singles to center field, while Dylan Marveggio, Braden Beasley, Haddock, Dillon Shew, Josh Hackelburg and Ty Warden also contributed with RBI hits.
Smith’s two-run single put the Cardinals up 5-0 and then Lahmeyer’s two-run single made it 9-0.
Verdigris JH head coach Chris Ott emptied his bench, as Dillon Shew ripped an RBI-double to left-center field to make it 12-0.
Warden drove in the final run for Verdigris with an RBI-double to deep left-center field that plated Dillon Shew and increased the lead to 13-0.
On the mound, Kale Schneider was impressive with three shutout innings and a one-hitter. Schneider tallied eight strikeouts with one walk in his complete game performance.
