What a week it’s been for the Barkley family.
Clyde Barkley and the Inola Longhorns advanced to the championship game of the Oologah Mustangs Basketball Tournament with a 62-61 win over Wagoner Friday evening.
On Thursday, his son Justin guided the Rogers State University Hillcats to a ‘big-time’ win over No. 4 Oklahoma Baptist University.
Inola’s win over Wagoner set-up a showdown with Fort Gibson, who is assisted by Clyde Barkley’s son-in-law, Todd Dickerson, for the championship Saturday night.
A late three-pointer by Wagoner with 0.7 seconds remaining narrowed the Inola lead to 62-61.
Both teams played tooth-and-nail down the stretch, with Inola prevailing thanks to Casey Gill’s 13 points in the paint and Aaron Davis’s 13 points on the perimeter. Zac Proctor also contributed with 12 points and Travis Hall added 11.
Inola led Wagoner, 39-29 at halftime and 48-45 going into the fourth quarter.
