BIXBY — Timid, yet over-matched ... the Claremore Lady Zebras got behind early and never could recover in a 66-27 semifinals loss to the Bixby Lady Spartans Friday night at the Bixby Tournament.

Claremore trailed 16-4 in the first quarter and 39-8 at halftime. Bixby’s Allie Alvstad controlled the paint and put the Lady Spartans ahead 12-2 in the first quarter with a layup from Christina Devers.

The margin grew to 32-4 as Bixby went on a 16-0 scoring run and Claremore committed 12 turnovers in the first half.

Anna McGuire, Kaleigh Cox, Alex Crews and Bailey Steckline scored two points in the first 16 minutes.

Bixby’s Stevie Parker, who is committed to Tulsa, led the Lady Spartans with 11 points in the opening half.

In the second half, Claremore’s offense found a little consistency and scored 19 points.

Crews and Cox led the Lady Zebras with six points apiece, while Monica Taylor added five. McGuire and Steckline finished with four each and Allison Howell also had two.

Parker led Bixby with a game-high 15 points.

The Lady Zebras (2-2) played Krum, Texas for third place Saturday afternoon.
