Verdigris’ Hanslovan receives Tulsa World All-Metro Girls Soccer honors

CLAREMORE — When it comes to girls soccer in Rogers County, Verdigris forward Caitlyn Hanslovan plays to ‘higher level’ than her opponents.

Hanslovan’s aggressive demeanor on the field helped land the incoming senior first-team honors on the Tulsa World All-Metro Girls Soccer team for the second consecutive year.

This past season, Hanslovan tallied a team-high 22 goals and 13 assists to lead the Lady Cardinals to the Class 4A state championship.

Heading into her final season at Verdigris, Hanslovan, who has comitted to Oral Roberts University, has 69 career goals and three state championships.

Also receiving honorable mention Tulsa World All-Metro honors for Verdigris were: Shelby Anderson, senior forward; Taylor Beck, junior midfielder; Jade Graves, junior goalkeeper; Aubrey Lindsey, junior sweeper and Summer Witt, junior midfielder.

The first-team All-Metro recipients were the following girls soccer players:

* Cassidy Chappell, senior midfielder, Owasso.

* Sara Clarke, sophomore midfielder, Tulsa Edison.

* Bailey Haydock, senior midfielder, Bishop Kelley.

* Liz Keester, senior forward, Jenks.

* Claire Kelley, senior forward, Bishop Kelley.

* Kaela Little, senior goalkeeper, Bishop Kelley.

* Claire Maris, senior defender, Tulsa Union.

* Shiloh Price, senior midfielder, Broken Arrow.

* Katie Sprouse, senior midfielder, Bishop Kelley.

* Tatum Wagner, sophomore forward, Bixby.

Catoosa’s Haylie Kinzey, a senior forward, was named to the second team.

Honorable mention honors went to the following Rogers County players:

Catoosa — Jordan Burch, Shelbi Gann and Caylee Winterburg.

Claremore Sequoyah — Tana Dake, Haley Saul and Callie Wangsgard.

Keester, of Jenks, received the Tulsa World All-Metro Player of the Year after leading the Lady Trojans to the Class 6A State Runner-up trophy this past spring.

Keester tallied 32 goals as a senior and finished her impressive career with a school-record 82 goals.

Keester will attend Texas A&M and compete in the Southeastern Conference this fall.

    Claremore senior goalkeeper Sam Lillie made the most of his first and last varsity start Tuesday night against Skiatook on Senior Night at Lantow Field.
    For 40 minutes, Lillie was flawless in the goal, allowing only one goal and making several tenacious stops against the fiery Bulldogs.
    The second-half, however, told a different story as No. 3 Skiatook scored four goals and enjoyed a 5-0 win over the No. 15 Zebras.

  • Berryhill’s White strikes out 17, tosses no-hitter over No. 1 Verdigris

    Top-ranked Class 3A Verdigris got White-washed by 4A No.3 Berryhill on Tuesday night.
    In a battle of 2013 state champions, Chiefs’ ace Nick White — a future Oklahoma State pitcher —  fired a no-hitter with 17 strikeouts, igniting a 5-0 victory over the Cardinals.

    Verdigris senior forward Caitlyn Hanslovan tallied another ‘hat trick’ in her illustrious Lady Cardinals soccer career Tuesday night at Oologah.
    The three goals by Hanslovan soared the second-ranked Lady Cardinals past Oologah, 5-0 in non-conference play at Mustangs Stadium.

    Oklahoma State's women's basketball team has signed a pair of junior college players it was announced today by Cowgirl head coach Jim Littell.

    Trinity Valley (Texas) Community College's Roddricka Patton and Rylie Swanson, a product of Northern Oklahoma College-Enid, both signed National Letters of Intent and will join the OSU program for the upcoming season.
