No. 19 Inola forced Sperry into 32 turnovers and 27 percent shooting in rolling to a 57-32 victory in girls Will Rogers Conference basketball Tuesday night at the Inola Indoor Sports Arena.
The Lady Longhorns grabbed control with 15 consecutive first-quarter points and converted 19-of-24 free throws to win for the third time in five games. Senior Lexi Williams led the way with 18 points and Lindsey Byfield added 10.
“I thought we played really well in spurts, then we got undisciplined,’’ said Inola coach Donnie Martin.
“We focused well at times and then got sloppy and didn’t execute. Our press was good when we didn’t foul. We had too many fouls and we’ve got to eliminate that.’’
Sperry built an early 5-2 lead before Inola went on a 15-0 run to break it open.
Thanks to Longhorn pressure, the Pirates committed five turnovers midway through the quarter and had nine by the break.
