Oologah stretches win streak, beats Jay 64-43

OOLOGAH — The Oologah Mustangs entered Friday’s game against Jay on a 2-game win streak. A stellar defense by the Mustangs helped them solidify their dominant win inside Mustang Fieldhouse against the Jay Bulldogs.

The Mustangs’ Josh Snook scored a game-high 14 points to lead Oologah to a 64-43 victory over the Bulldogs.

Breydon DeSpain finished the night with 14 points, 2 assists, and was 6-of-13 from the floor. Levi Potter added three treys and finished with 13 points for the Mustangs.

In a dominant defensive stance, the Mustangs held the Bulldogs scoreless for 4-and-a-half minutes in the first quarter, going on a 14-0 run.

Ezra Deaton contributed 12 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 blocks. Trystan Moore finished with 11 points and 1 rebound.

Jay’s Jordon Sweeney and Taylor Foster both finished the game with a team-high 13 points.

Girls: Jay 56, Oologah 45

The Oologah Lady Mustangs trailed by 5 at half, rallied, but couldn’t quite overcome the Jay Lady Bulldogs and lost 56-45.

Gracie Garrison scored a team-high 15 points, was 7-of-14 from the court, with 2 rebounds and a steal for the Lady Mustangs. Emily Pashley and Alex Edinger added 11 points each.

The Lady Mustangs were never able to capture the lead against Jay, as Jay's Adrianna Cornell scored a game-high 16 points.

A terrifying scene for Lady Mustang finds occurred with 5 minutes left in the game when guard Kelsey Garrison left the game with an apparent right knee injury.

She finished the game with 1 rebound, 1 block and 1 steal.
