Claremore’s Bryce Howe and Matt Whatley, along with Verdigris’ Ryan Skalnik capped off their high school baseball careers with Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State honors.
Howe, Whatley and Skalnik will compete for the Large East All-State team in the annual Oklahoma Coaches Association baseball game at 7 p.m. on July 29 at J.L. Johnson Stadium on the Oral Roberts University campus in Tulsa.
For Howe and Whatley, the game will be a preview of what’s to come on their future home field as the newest members of the ORU Golden Eagles.
Skalnik, a four-year Class 3A state champion third baseman, will continue his collegiate baseball career at Neosho County Community College.

Also, earning All-State Large East accolades is future ORU baseball signee and Jenks High School graduate Cadon Owens. Owens grew up playing competitive baseball in Tulsa with Claremore’s Howe and Whatley as members of the Bearcats.
