BASEBALL: ORU travels to OU tonight, hosts Wichita State on Wednesday

TULSA — The Oral Roberts University baseball team looks to move to .500 against Big 12 member schools on Tuesday as the Golden Eagles head to Norman, Okla., to take on Oklahoma at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast by Sooner Sports TV on Fox College Sports Central.

ORU (14-16) will return home to take on Wichita State at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

After dropping a three-game set at Texas Tech Feb. 21-23, the Golden Eagles have won a pair of games against the Big 12 as they topped Kansas 8-7 on the road and shutout then No. 28 Oklahoma at home on March 25, 3-0.

Tuesday’s ORU starting pitcher Pepe Gomez earned the complete game shutout against the Sooners, allowing just five hits and striking out five. Entering Tuesday’s game, Gomez boasts a 1.91 earned run average, the fourth lowest ERA in the Southland Conference. The senior is also one of two pitchers in the Southland holding opponents below .200, with a .187 average.

Currently second in the Big 12, No. 26 Oklahoma (23-10) is coming off a three-game non-conference sweep of Cal State Bakersfield over the weekend in Norman.

The Sooners are led at the plate by James Mac who has a Big 12 high .402 average and is slugging .573 with 11 doubles and three home runs. Mac was 1-3 in the ORU victory on March 25.

On Wednesday, the Golden Eagles host Wichita State (16-14) in a game that has been rescheduled twice due to weather. After taking two of three from No. 9 Cal State Fullerton two weekends ago, the Shockers have lost their last four games, including a loss to Kansas on April 1 and were swept by Indiana State over the weekend.

Despite the record, the Shockers are out-hitting opponents by more than 31 points, led by Casey Gillaspie who is hitting .407, the second best average in the Missouri Valley.

Both games can be heard on AM 1550 and 94.5 FM with the voice of ORU baseball Geoff Haxton on the call, while live stats will be available for both games on
