CLAREMORE — District champions ... Enough said!

Claremore freshman forward Olivia Maulsby converted a game-winning header with 1:22 remaining to lead the No. 4-ranked Lady Zebras past No. 5 Skiatook, 2-1 Tuesday night in Metro Lakes Conference play at Lantow Field.

With the win, the Lady Zebras (10-1) made a huge statement, stretching their winning streak to 10-straight and keeping their home record perfect going into the Class 5A playoffs.

Maulsby’s clutch opportunity came on a corner kick from junior midfielder Taylor Williams, who lifted the incoming pass to the right corner of net allowing Maulsby to head the ball into the goal.

Early in the game, Claremore took the 1-0 lead on Williams’ unassisted goal. Shortly, thereafter, Skiatook evened the score on Madison Stuckey’s goal.

The district championship was the first for Claremore under veteran head coach Robin Sutherland.

The Lady Zebra seniors are: Anna McGuire, Ashley Matthews, Jentry Cruce, Bailey Bacon, Emily Parkinson and Katelin Teter.
