GOLF: Sipe leads Catoosa to 6th after Day 1 in 4A state tourney

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Catoosa Lady Indians, behind the leadership of Hannah Sipe, finished Day 1 of the Class 4A State Golf Tournament in sixth place at Lake Hefner in Oklahoma City.

Sipe fired an opening-round 89 to lead the Lady Indians, who finished with a 375.

Clinton fired a 341 for first place, while Hilldale was six strokes behind at 347 and Poteau was third at 350.

Along with Sipe, Cheyenne Brown shot a 93, followed by Mallory Jackson with a 94 and Mallory Martindale with a 99.

Cassie Weeks also contributed with a 104 for Catoosa.

Top individuals were: Paige Neidy, Clinton, 74; Emilee Rigsby, Fort Gibson, 75; Hannah Ward, Poteau, 76; Katie Kirkhart, Hilldale, 78 and Michaela Earis, Muldrow, 82.

Oologah’s Gaola Vang also fired a 105 after the first day.
