CLAREMORE — Rogers State senior outfielder Katrina Loy was named to the Capital One Academic All-America College Division Softball Third Team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Loy, a graduate of the RSU Business Administration program, was named to the third team after compiling a 3.95 GPA to go along with a .286 batting average. She started in 37 of her 50 appearances this year for the Cats. The senior left fielder totaled eight doubles, five homeruns and 30 RBI in her final season on the Hill.

The CoSIDA Academic All-America award marks the second consecutive season the Sequoyah-Claremore student has earned third team honors. A four year starter for the Hillcats, Loy serves as the Vice President of the RSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

As a junior, Loy was a member of a team of RSU students that finished in the top five during the initial interview round of the 2012 Donald W. Reynolds Governor’s Cup. The RSU team was the only undergraduate team to earn such distinction as they participated in interviews having to defend their business plans as it simulates the real-world process of soliciting a business plan to potential investors.

Loy is the only Hillcat softball player in program history to be named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® team.
