ORU's Reynolds, Gibson run to victories at Adidas Classic

LINCOLN, Neb. — Madison Reynolds and Jeffery Gibson paced the Oral Roberts track athletes, while Dustin Gehrke added a field victory on Saturday at the Adidas Classic, hosted by Nebraska.



With men's pole vault All-American Jack Whitt participating in the Pole Vault Summit, the event was up for grabs in Lincoln. Fortunately for the Golden Eagles, Gehrke stepped up and brought home the victory with a height of 5.07 meters (16-7.5).



Competing with some of the top pole vaulters from around the world, Whitt jumped to a fifth place finish his competition with a height of 5.50 meters.



Reynolds, a freshman from Oklahoma City, continues to improve her times, crossing the finish line in first place with her best time as a collegiate runner. The current Southland Conference women's track athlete of the week finished with a time of 55.43.



The conference's men's track athlete of the week, Gibson beat a pair of Nebraska teammates in route to his third victory in as many meets this indoor season with a time of 47.44.



In the women's pole vault, Lauren McFarland finished second with a height of 3.77 (12-4.50), ahead of teammate Daniella Szabo who jumped 3.62 meters (11-10.50). ORU jumper Linhchi Lai also finished with a height of 3.62 meters.



Cornesha Wilkerson rounded out the women's top three finishers for the Golden Eagles, finishing with a time of 25.06 in the 200 meter dash.



Among the men's top three finishers was Joseph Reis-Herron. The freshman finished the event with a second place medal with a time of 6.83. Senior Tim Jones was the other men's top three finisher, jumping 14.38 meters (47-2.25) in the triple jump.



Up next on the docket for the track teams is a return trip to the site of their season opener, this time competing in the Kansas Jayhawk Classic in Lawrence, Kan., on Friday.
