RSU’s Bradley receives Regional Coach of the Year honor

CLAREMORE — Rogers State University Head Baseball Coach Ron Bradley was named the 2013 Rawlings-NAIA Regional Coach of the Year for the Plains Region as announced at the awards luncheon of the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Convention in Dallas, Texas.

“It was very rewarding to finish the last two years in the NAIA World Series and something I will always remember in my career,” said Bradley. “Although this is really a team and staff award, it will help usher in a new era for the RSU baseball program.”

Bradley earns the regional coach of the year award for the second-straight season after leading the Hillcats to back-to-back Avista-NAIA World Series berths and a 36-24 record by winning the NAIA Opening Round-Claremore Bracket with a perfect 4-0 record. RSU ended 2013 ranked No. 13 in the NAIA Baseball Coaches’ Postseason Top 25 Poll.

“This is a tremendous honor for Coach Bradley and his staff after another successful season of Hillcat baseball,” said Director of Athletics Ryan Erwin.

“He is very deserving of the award shown through the excellence his team exhibited in reaching the World Series for the second time. I am proud of the job he has done leading this program and look forward to the upcoming season.”

The only coach in program history, Bradley has amassed a record of 264-160 during his eight seasons at the helm of the Diamond Cats. A member of the Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association (OBCA) Hall of Fame, Class of 2003, Bradley guides RSU into the 2014 campaign, which begins with a four-game series against Doane College Feb. 8-9 at the Diamond Sports Complex.
