SOCCER: Cruce, Teter, Hrdlicka, Harris represent Zebras in 5A All-State Game

CLAREMORE — Four Claremore High School graduates and one head coach will cap off the 2014 soccer season tonight in the Class 5A East-West All-State Game at Indian Bowl.

Claremore’s Jentry Cruce, Katelin Teter and head coach Robin Sutherland will represent the East and action will get underway at 6 p.m. Ticket prices are $5 for adults and $3 for students. Children ages 5 and under are admitted free.

Joining Cruce and Teter on the East Team are: Emily Adair (East Central); Karissa Aubrey (Pryor); Rachael Brown (Tahlequah); Roxy Brown (Metro Christian); Katie Champlin (Tahlequah); Samantha Chaffin (Tahlequah); Carlie Cook (Cascia Hall); Kaja Cremin (Tulsa Edison); Gloria Dees (East Central); Sarah Due (Pryor); Annaly Ferrell (Cascia Hall); Miranda Jarvis (Coweta); Caroline Loyd (Durant); Trista McHolland (Coweta); Madison Morris (Tulsa Edison); Dalia Perez (Collinsville); Cristian Perez-Portillo (East Central); and Madison Stuckey (Skiatook).

Sutherland will be assisted by Richard Beattle.

Claremore’s Nick Hrdlicka and Braden Harris will represent the East squad and their game kicks off at 8 p.m.

Joining Hrdlicka and Harris on the East Team are: Pierce Anderson (Tulsa Edison); Danny Burke (Metro Christian); Kristtian Busquets (Tulsa Edison); Greg Chapman (Metro Christian); Roberto Gomez (Cascia Hall); Wesley Hayes (Cascia Hall); Corey Horton (Pryor); Colton Jackson (Skiatook); Luis Juarez (Memorial); Jeremia Kesaulya (Memorial); James Kriege (Skiatook); Andrew Langford (Coweta); Dolores Luevano (East Central); Saul Medina (Tahlequah); Nestor Pachelo (East Central); James Roberts (Coweta); Edgar Santiago (East Central) and Wesley Swingle (Grove).

The East All-State coaches are Mark Dover, Jake Hardesty and Connor Whitman.

    For the second-straight year, the Claremore Zebra student training staff will be represented in the Oklahoma Coaches All-State games held in Tulsa.
    Meranda Golbek and Sarah Szcinski, a pair of 2014 Claremore High School graduates, earned All-State honors for their athletic training careers and will join two other student trainers from Jenks and Stillwater High School on the East squad.

  • BASEBALL: Three Rivers Bandits notch 8th-straight win

    The Three Rivers Bandits seem to be getting hot when they need to be, heading into next week’s state tournament.

    The Bartlesville Indians were victims of the heat as the Bandits swept a doubleheader from them, 2-0 and then 9-2, on Saturday at Connors State College for their eighth straight win.

  • TCU's Fields surrenders to misdemeanor warrant

    TCU defensive end Devonte Fields has surrendered to authorities on a misdemeanor assault warrant.

    That's after TCU suspended the defensive standout earlier this week amid allegations he punched an ex-girlfriend in the head and threatened her with a gun while shouting, "I should blast you!"

  • NFL: Eagles dealing with suspension of ex-Sooner OL Lane Johnson

    Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly opened training camp Saturday dealing with an issue he never faced before — one of his top players being suspended.

    Right tackle Lane Johnson, Kelly's first opening-round draft pick and the fourth overall pick of the 2013 draft will miss the first four games of the 2014 season after testing positive for a banned substance.

  • NFL: Browns fans flock to see Johnny Football

    There were No. 2 jerseys everywhere, ringing the practice fields in various shapes, sizes and colors.

    On the first day of training camp, Browns fans came out by the thousands, many of them to get their first live look at the popular and polarizing quarterback who electrified college football and who may one day lead Cleveland back to pro football glory.

    They all came to see Johnny Manziel.
