GOLF: Hocutt paces RSU to 5th place at Lady Rattler Invitational

SAN ANTONIO — The Rogers State women's golf team got off to a great start in round one of the Lady Rattler Invitational sitting in fifth place firing a 320 at Dominion Golf Course Monday.


The Hillcats are 13 strokes behind tournament leader Tarleton State (307) and just one shot from fourth-place Angelo State (319) in the 18-team event.


Whitney Hocutt shot the fourth-best round of her career carding a 78 (+6) to tie for eighth in the field while Kina Boone also broke 80 shooting a 79 with an impressive back-nine score of 37 to finish tied at 14th. Hocutt is four shots behind Northeastern State's Sofia Castiello and Jessica Pickwick of Tarleton State for the overall lead.


The balanced day for RSU continued as Raquel Trevino and Michelle Tierney fired rounds of 81 and 82, respectively, to close the team scoring.


The Lady Rattler Invitational will conclude Tuesday with round two on the par-72, 5,950-yard course.

    For the second-straight year, the Claremore Zebra student training staff will be represented in the Oklahoma Coaches All-State games held in Tulsa.
    Meranda Golbek and Sarah Szcinski, a pair of 2014 Claremore High School graduates, earned All-State honors for their athletic training careers and will join two other student trainers from Jenks and Stillwater High School on the East squad.
