SHAWNEE — The Tampa Bay Rays signed Oklahoma Baptist hurdler Eric Fredrick to a free agent contract.
Fredrick reports this week to Port Charlotte, Fla., for Rookie League Ball in the Pacific Coast League.
"We are extremely excited for Eric to get this opportunity with a great organization like Tampa Bay," said OBU Associated Head Coach Chris Klimas. "Eric ended his collegiate career throwing the ball as well as anyone, and we are excited to see him carry it over to the next level. His Bison family will be rooting for him, and we all wish him the best of luck."
Fredrick, a 6-3, 220-pound senior lefty from Tucson, Ariz., was 7-2 with a 4.26 earned run average for the Bison this season. He struck out 77 batters in 67.1 innings.
