TAHLEQUAH — The Northeastern State University baseball team will hold its annual instructional showcase camps on July 20 and August 17 at Thomas C. Rousey Field on the campus of NSU.

The camps (two separate camps) will take place from 1-6 p.m., with on-site registration beginning at noon.  Any student graduating from 2013-17 is eligible to participate. The camp is $70, and all participants will receive an NSU baseball T-shirt.

"This camp is an instructional showcase for high school athletes in the graduating classes of 2013-17. Along with the evaluation portion, instruction on certain phases of the game will also be included with this camp," NSU baseball coach Travis Janssen said. "Our camps will always be the first place we start in regards to recruiting. Several kids in the last two years have been extended scholarship offers from our camps. Sixty percent of the student-athletes that we signed during the early signing period in November were former campers. We are looking for student-athletes with not only ability, but also young men that carry themselves with class and hold themselves to a high standard on and off of the field."

"It is very important to the NSU coaching staff that each camper has a great baseball camp experience. We have a couple of goals with these particular camps. No. 1, this is an opportunity to give us a jumpstart on our recruiting. A second goal is that we want every camper to learn something to become a better player.  And, number three, we want to showcase Northeastern State.  We think this is a great place to come to school and a great place to play baseball."

Sign up today for a spot in the camp. To register, or for more information, contact Travis Janssen at 918-444-3910 or by email at janssent@nsuok.edu.
