Claremore hoops travels to Siloam Springs tourney

CLAREMORE — The Claremore High School basketball teams tip-off the new year Thursday afternoon in the opening round of the Siloam Springs (Ark.) Holiday Invitational at Panther Gymnasium.

Behind the senior leadership of point guard Kaleigh Cox, the Lady Zebras (2-1) will face tradition-rich Prairie Grove at 4 p.m.

Other first-round girls games include: Gentry (Ark.) versus Tahlequah, 10 a.m.; Conway (Ark.) versus Charleston (Ark.), 1 p.m. and Siloam Springs (Ark.) versus Western Grove (Ark.), 7 p.m.

A win over Prairie Grove and the Lady Zebras face Conway-Charleston at 4 p.m. on Friday. A loss would have the Lady Zebras playing at 10 a.m. on Friday.

The Zebras, under head coach Tommy Nolan, enter the tournament with a 1-2 overall record.

Claremore faces Shiloh Christian (Ark.) at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday in first-round action.

Other first-round boys games are: Tahlequah versus Charleston, 11:30 a.m.; Greenwood (Ark.) versus Prairie Grove, 2:30 p.m. and Siloam Springs versus Western Grove at 8:30 p.m.

A win over Shiloh Christian places the Zebras in a semifinal matchup at 8:30 p.m. on Friday against Siloam Springs and former Claremore coach Tim Stewart.

A loss to Shiloh Christian would move the Zebras to the loser’s bracket with a 2:30 p.m. game on Friday against Siloam Springs or Western Grove.
