All-American Hillcats

Cornwell, Froese, Williams cap careers with NAIA honors


CLAREMORE — Three Rogers State basketball players, two women and one men’s player, were named to the 2012-13 NAIA Division I Basketball All-American’s list announced Wednesday.

Women’s basketball seniors Logan Froese and Sierra Cornwell were named honorable mention All-American and men’s senior guard Donald Williams earned honorable mention honors as well.

Cornwell a member of the 2011-12 NAIA All-American Honorable Mention was the 2012-13 Sooner Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year and a first team All-SAC member. She finished the season ranked second in the NAIA in total steals with 131 to break her own school record for most in a single season. The Preston, Okla. native sits atop the all-time school record for career steals after 248 steals in her two year career.

Froese earned NAIA All-American honorable mention honors after being named second team all-conference this season. The Claremore, Okla. native was the only Hillcat named to the All-SAC Women’s Basketball Tournament team after totaling 38 points in two games action in the postseason tournament. She ranks first in program history in nine statistical categories.

Froese becomes the fifth Hillcat women’s basketball player to be named NAIA All-American. Cornwell becomes the first women’s basketball player at RSU to be named to the list more than once and marks the sixth time in program history a student-athlete has been named All-American.

Williams was named honorable mention after earning first team All-SAC honors this season. He led the team in scoring with 513 points and closed out his two-year career with 1,000 points. Williams was ranked ninth in NAIA Division I in total three-point field goals made at 89 as he played in all 31 games for the Hillcats, starting all but one.

He becomes the sixth Hillcat in men’s program history to be named to the NAIA All-American list.
