Special to the Progress
Class 4A ninth-ranked Oologah had good news and bad news in the regional baseball playoffs Friday at Metro Christian High School.
The bad news came first when No. 13 Dewey shut out the Mustangs 4-0. The good news though saw Oologah stay alive with a 10-4 victory over Cleveland in the elimination game.
The Mustangs (27-10) will face Tulsa Metro Christian (25-6) in another elimination contest Saturday afternoon. The winner of that game will square off with Dewey (26-5).

Tim Luce was the star for the Mustangs against the Tigers (18-15). Luce had three hits, including an inside the park homer, scored four runs, drove in two more, drew a walk, and stole a base.
Oologah banged out 12 hits and scored in all but one inning. Tom Helvick and Keenan Ferrier both had a pair of hits.
The Mustangs scored twice in the first inning. Levi Potter drove in the first run on a sacrifice fly to center. Ferrier got the other RBI on a single up the middle.
Oologah scored an unearned run in the second and put three more on the board in the third. Helvick's two run single to right was the big blow of the third inning.
Luce led off the fourth with a double to right center. He then came home after Taylor Kelley reached safely on an error.
Luce reached on a single to right field to open the sixth and eventually scored on a Potter base hit to left.
The Mustangs got their final two runs with a two out rally in the seventh inning. Tyler Harris singled to right field.
Luce then roped a sharp line drive toward the Cleveland right fielder. He made a valliant attempt to snag the ball but missed and it rolled all the way to the fence.
Luce got on his horse, circled the bases, and did not have to slide as he completed the rare inside the park home run.

The Mustangs had a hit in all but one inning. Bulldogger pitcher Carson Larue, however, was able to strand all of those runners. Helvick and Harris both went 2-for-3 and had a double.
