AMES, Iowa — Oklahoma State's Cowgirl softball team rallied for five runs in the top of the seventh, but it was not enough as OSU dropped its second game of the series to Iowa State 8-6 here Saturday afternoon before 305 fans at the Cyclone Sports Complex. It marks the first time since 1987 that ISU has won back-to-back games over the Cowgirls.

Ari Morrison's solo home run, her first of the season, got Oklahoma State on the board first in the opening frame. A two-out single by Cyclone Lexi Slater in the bottom of the second tied the game at 1-1. ISU scored two more in the fourth, one on a solo homer by Slater, and three more in the fifth on a three-run bomb Slater, her first and second of the season, giving the Cyclones a 6-1 lead.

Iowa State added two insurance runs in the sixth -- runs they ended up needing -- on a double, an error, a double steal and a sacrifice fly.

Trailing 8-1, the Cowgirls rallied in the seventh. With one out, the next seven OSU batters all reached base, including a two-run double by freshman Erika Campbell and bases-loaded walks drawn by Gessenia DeLaCruz and Tamara Brown. Morrison's sacrifice fly made the score 8-6, but two more fly outs ended the game for the Cowgirls.

Campbell went 3-for-4 in the game with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Freshman Tiffany Mikkelson went 2-for-3 with a run. Morrison finished with two RBIs on a home run and a sac fly.

OSU's batters drew a combined 10 walks off the ISU pitching duo of Tori Torrescano and Riley Fisher. The Cowgirl pitching staff gave up eight runs, but just three earned, as Oklahoma State committed five errors in the contest.

Oklahoma State (24-16 overall, 2-3 Big 12) and Iowa State (16-19, 2-3) will play the series finale on Sunday at noon at the Cyclone Sports Complex.
