SOCCER: Verdigris, Catoosa notch home wins

VERDIGRIS — The Verdigris Lady Cardinals claimed bragging rights Friday night with a 1-0 win over the Oologah Lady Mustangs.

Caitlyn Hanslovan scored the only goal of the game in the first half and Verdigris goalkeeper Jade Graves finished with three saves to seal the win.

The Class 4A No. 4 Lady Cardinals improved to 3-3 on the season, while the Lady Mustangs dropped to 4-3.

In the nightcap, the Class 4A No. 10 Cardinals battled past the No. 3 Mustangs, 4-2.

With the win, the Cardinals extended their record to 4-2 on the year. Oologah, meanwhile, fell to 7-1.

Both Verdigris teams return to action on Tuesday in a doubleheader at home against Glenpool. Game times are 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.

The Catoosa High School soccer teams stormed past Drumright in a Friday night doubleheader.

The Class 4A No. 1 Lady Indians shutout Drumright, 4-0; while the Indians rolled in the nightcap, 10-0.

Kinzey scored twice while Ginn and Torres each had a goal to lead the Lady Indians.

Hopkins led the Indians with a hat trick — three goals — while Nino and Harvey had two and LaBass, Garcia and Madlock added one.
