Brett Bowline tallied a game-high 15 points and the Catoosa Indians came away with a 55-35 win over the winless Claremore Zebras Saturday morning in the seventh-place game of the Port City Classic.
The Zebras dropped to 0-16 on the season after failing to have a player finish in double figures against their Class 4A nemesis.
Dontre’ Murphy led the Zebras in scoring with seven points and Spencer Walden added five.
The Zebras trailed 11-8 after the opening quarter, but Catoosa outscored Claremore, 24-1 in the second quarter to carry a 35-9 lead into halftime.
After scoring Claremore’s first 18 points in a loss Friday afternoon to Skiatook, senior guard Brett Russell was held to two points against Catoosa.
In the third quarter, Bowline received scoring help from Colbey Madewell, who finished with nine points, and Caleb Presley, who had eight points, as Catoosa increased the margin to 43-20.
Claremore tallied 26 points in the second half.
Along with Dontre’ Murphy and Walden, Claremore had scoring from Hunter Garroutte, Randy Williams and Truman Burrage with four points each, Daniel Lauer and Angel Fulgencio with three points each, and the trio of Russell, Grady Caton and Dylan Landers with two apiece.
Catoosa (8-10) returns to action tonight at 8 p.m. on the road against Locust Grove.
