PERFECTION

Claremore’s Schivally tosses perfect game no-hitter in 5A Regional opener

CLAREMORE — Claremore senior pitcher Stephanie Schivally is pretty much a ‘perfectionist’ when it comes to softball and everyday living.

Schivally, in her second pitching performance this season, tossed a perfect game and another no-hitter in the Class 5A Regional Tournament opener.

Behind Schivally’s all-around performance, the Lady Zebras (23-7) galloped past Tulsa Memorial, 22-0 to give head coach Jim Sherl his first regional tournament victory.

“Stephanie’s a darn good pitche for us,” Sherl said. “I put the ball in her hand, and she responded with a dominating performance.”

Schivally faced 15 hitters, striking out three and never allowing a base-runner or issuing a walk.

Claremore’s offense struck for six runs in the first and eight more in the second to take a 14-0 lead on Tulsa Memorial.

“Madison (Bright) leads off with a single and then Steph hits a double off the wall. From there, it was time to rock and roll,” Sherl said.

Schivally’s RBI-double in the top of the first inning set the tone that the Lady Zebras’ offense was going to be hard to shutdown.

Kenzie Johnson’s 3-run double in the second made it 11-0. Krista Wolfe, one of seven seniors, also contributed with an RBI-double in the inning.

One inning later, Wolfe’s 2-RBI double to right-center field plated Brooke Dicus and Bright to make it 16-0.

Dicus and Bright hit back-to-back singles off Hannah Nease for Claremore’s offense in the third inning.

Claremore’s final two runs came in the fourth on Taylor Armstrong’s walk and Dicus’s fielder’s choice.
