Lady ‘Cats tip off season against NCAA Division I Tulsa

CLAREMORE — A new era in Rogers State University women’s basketball will tip off tonight in Tulsa.

First-year head coach Roxanne Long, who played collegiately for Sherri Coale at the University of Oklahoma, leads the Lady ‘Cats into their season opener against the University of Tulsa.

Game time is set for 7 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

The Lady ‘Cats finished 22-12 overall and played in the third round of the NAIA Division I National Tournament.

Long’s team includes the following players: Rician Walker (Guard, Sr.); Logan Froese (Forward, Sr.); Leah Smith (Guard, Sr.); Clarissa Cannon (Forward, Jr.); Ariani Silva (Guard, Sr.); Sierra Cornwell (Guard, Sr.); Jade Hardy (Guard, Soph.); Kelby Fritz (Guard, Sr.); Larrielle Giles (Forward, Soph.); Taylor Jeffs (Guard, Jr.); Ally Warren (Guard, Soph.); Adrianna Leatherbury (Forward, Jr.); Daryn Miller (Guard, Jr.).

Tulsa is led by second-year head coach Matilda Mossman.

The Golden Hurricane women’s basketball team finished 13-15 overall in 2011-12 and are led by senior point guard Taleya Mayberry.
