SEQUOYAH — Claremore Sequoyah didn’t have much luck in trying to silence the Oologah Lady Mustangs Tuesday evening in Will Rogers Conference action.

With a ‘merry-go-round’ in the circle between Sequoyah starting pitcher Jodi Brown and reliever Amanda Chancellor, the Lady Mustangs needed only one inning to set the tone and produce a 10-7 victory.

Oologah tallied seven runs on one hit in the top of the second inning and then added three more runs in the third — highlighted by Hunter Jeffs’ two-run homer — to go up 10-1.

In the dreaded second inning for Sequoyah, Brown faced five hitters before giving way to Chancellor.

The Oologah hitters drew two walks and a hit-by-pitch before Brown was relieved by Chancellor. Hoping the decision would pay off, Chancellor’s outing was very short-lived as the senior third baseman/pitcher finished with two walks and two hit by pitches while allowing Oologah to take a commanding 7-0 lead.

Brown’s second time in the circle in the second inning saw Oologah first baseman Jennifer Hertel launch a two-run double to left-center field for the only hit in the inning.

Sequoyah, however, got on the board in the bottom of the second with Sydney Blue’s sacrifice bunt plating Katy Remy, who reached on a lead-off triple and went 3-for-4 in the game.

Oologah extended its lead to 10-1 in the top of the third with Jeffs’ two-run homer over the center field wall. Jayci Wang also tallied an RBI-single down the left field line to score Alex Edinger, who reached on a single.

Sequoyah tallied the remaining six runs in the third, sixth and seventh inning.  Randi Vincent’s two-run bunt single and Chancellor’s sacrifice fly to right field made it 10-4 in the third. Blue drove in two runs with a single to center field in the sixth and Chancellor crossed home in the seventh on Mackenzie Thomas’s RBI-single.

Thomas also contributed with a double in the sixth inning to finish 2-for-5 on the night.
