WICHITA, Kan. — Daniella Szabo and Lauren McFarland each cleared a height of 12-0.5 (3.67m) in the pole vault, but it was Szabo who claimed second and McFarland third based on number of misses. Szabo passed on the first three heights and hit the next two on her first attempt, while McFarland passed the first four and hit her first height on the third try. Linhchi Lai took fifth at a season best 11-6.5 (3.52m) as ORU claimed three of the top five spots in the event.
Like the women’s 4x100m relay team, the men’s 4x100m relay team also narrowly missed its season best and Damian Matthews, Reis-Herron, Zuva Bvekerwa and James Carey combined to finish third at 41.85, less than a half second back of UMKC, who won the event.
Marrisa Thomas blew away her previous season best in the 800m run, clocking in at 2:13.53, five seconds better than her previous best, but finished second in the event after Ashly Wright of UTA set a meet record at 2:07.33.
Wilkerson and Williams finished neck-and-neck again in the 200m dash, with Wilkerson getting the edge this time with a time of 24.83, besting Williams’ time of 24.89.
ORU will have one final tune up before the Southland Conference Championships as they travel to Fayetteville on Friday for the Arkansas Twilight. The SLC Championships will be held May 10-12 in Lake Charles, La.
