CLAREMORE — Defense has been the key to the Claremore Lady Zebras soccer success in 2013.

The Class 5A No. 3 Lady Zebras (11-2) — led by defenders Jentry Cruce, Anna McGuire, Maddie Murray, Chandler Payne and goalkeeper Brylee Brasher — are looking for yet another shutout in the opening round of the Class 5A state playoffs at 6 p.m. tonight against Coweta at Lantow Field.

Claremore’s defensive attack has tallied seven shutouts in 13 games this season, including four this month.

The opposition has only scored eight goals on Brasher, who is just a freshman in her first season at the varsity level.

Coweta (6-6) enters today’s game riding a two-game losing streak, but they are 4-2 on the road this season.

The winner faces Skiatook or BT Washington on Friday.
