FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Brian Anderson went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a homer and three RBI, while Ryne Stanek worked seven shutout innings as No. 14 Arkansas evened its series against Tennessee with an 11-1 win on Saturday night at Baum Stadium.
Arkansas improves its record to 33-17 and 16-9 in Southeastern Conference play with the win, while Tennessee drops to 20-27 overall and 7-17 in league play.
The series wraps up on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 p.m. Arkansas will start senior left hander Randall Fant (4-1, 2.27), while Tennessee will start freshman righty Aaron Quillen (2-3, 6.04). The series finale will be televised by CST. Only general admission tickets remain for Sunday’s game. General admission tickets are $8 and can be purchased on gameday at Baum Stadium, while supplies last.
Arkansas recorded 11 runs on 12 hits against the Tennessee pitching staff. Anderson paced the Razorbacks at the plate with his second four-hit game of the season, finishing a double shy of the cycle. Anderson was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with his fourth homer of the season, three RBI and four runs scored. Dominic Ficociello had a pair of hits and drove in two runs, while Jordan Farris went 1-for-4 with two RBI. Brett McAfee and Tyler Spoon each had a hit and a RBI.
Arkansas scored in every at bat during the game, marking the first time the Razorbacks had scored in every plate appearance since April 7, 2010, in a 32-8 win over Saint Louis in seven innings.
Stanek (7-2) picked up his seventh win of the season, striking out nine and giving up five hits in seven scoreless frames. The junior right hander lowered his overall ERA to 1.70 and to 1.10 in nine conference starts.
Colin Poché finished the contest, striking out three and giving up one hit in 1.1 innings.
Tennessee starter Nick Williams (2-4) took the loss after giving up three runs, two earned, on five hits and striking out three in 2.2 innings.
