Green Country All-Star Games start May 23 in Catoosa

CATOOSA — Area senior all-star athletes from 21 schools in northeastern Oklahoma will lace up their high tops, hoist their bats and dust off their pom-poms in preparation for the 2013 Green Country All-Star Games held May 23-24 in Catoosa.

The boys and girls basketball games tip off the two-day event at 6:30 p.m. on May 23 at Catoosa High School.

All-Star cheerleaders will perform at the basketball games.

On May 24, the softball game will take place at 10 a.m., followed by the baseball game at 2 p.m.

In case of rain, the softball and baseball games will be played on May 27.

The football game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. on May 24 at Catoosa High School Stadium.

Tickets may be purchased from participating athletes or at the gate for all events.

Tickets are $5 for adults and youth for all sports except football which are $6 at the gate.

Children under 12 are admitted free to any event with a paid adult.

The Green Country All-Star event allows senior athletes from area high schools an opportunity to showcase their talent to family, friends and college coaches.

Volunteers for Youth is coordinating the softball game, the boys and girls basketball games and the baseball game.

The Will Rogers Lions Club coordinates the football game.

Lions Club members use the football game proceeds to help provide eye exams and glasses to those in need.
