GOLF: Hillcats finish Day 1 in 11th place at San Antonio Shootout

SAN ANTONIO — Following a tournament championship last week, the Rogers State men's golf team struggled to match that performance Monday at the San Antonio Shootout placing 11th after day one held at the TPC San Antonio's Canyons Course.


The Hillcats posted a 308-318 for a day one total of 626 sitting 26 strokes behind the leaders from Lee (Tenn.) in the 15-team event.


Tanner Alder (77-79) and Henning Hogmoen (78-78) posted matching scores of 156 (+12) to pace RSU taking a tie for 35th into the final round. Alder posted a team-high four birdies in the opening round.


Reigning Heartland Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, Hagen Barmasse got off to a great start birding his first hole and finished with a two-round score of 157 on rounds of 77 and 80.


Austin Wride closed the team scoring for the Hillcats carding their low-round of the day starting the tournament with a 76 and followed with a second-round 82 for a 158 total.


Mike Hearne of Southern Nazarene has the overall individual lead as the only player currently under par shooting rounds of 72 and 71 for a day one total of 143 and a three-stroke lead.


Rogers State ends the San Antonio Shootout with the third and final round Tuesday at the par-72, 7,106-yard course.

    For the second-straight year, the Claremore Zebra student training staff will be represented in the Oklahoma Coaches All-State games held in Tulsa.
    Meranda Golbek and Sarah Szcinski, a pair of 2014 Claremore High School graduates, earned All-State honors for their athletic training careers and will join two other student trainers from Jenks and Stillwater High School on the East squad.
