TULSA —

Junior guard Caitlyn Hansolvan meshed a three-point shot from the right corner with 10 seconds left, lifting the Verdigris girls to a 50-48 victory over Colbert Friday in consolation bracket play of the Tournament of Champions at Mabee Center.
Colbert, ranked fifth in Class 2A, shot 55 percent from the field, including 71 percent in the second half, but committed 23 turnovers in the game and blew a six-point lead in the final 1:38. The Lady Cardinals, fourth in Class 3A, improved to 9-2 with a late defensive stand.
Colbert (10-2) appeared headed to victory when Bailee Weger converted two free throws with 1:38 remaining to give the Leopards a 48-42 lead. Verdigris guard Baleigh O’Dell, who finished with 20 points, drained a trey to pull the Cardinals within 48-45, then drove the lane to score with 55 seconds to go.
Hansolvan finally pushed through her three point shot 45 seconds later to win the game
Down 12-8 after one period, Verdigris used a trapping full court press to run off 11 straight points to lead 19-12. The Cards were on top 28-16 prior to 10 consecutive Colbert points cutting the gap to 28-26.
Katherine Hair’s bucket inside put the Leopards up 39-38 early in the final period, then Darian Bradford canned a running shot with 2:12 left to make it 46-42. Weger followed 34 seconds later with two free throws, but Verdigris managed a winning rally.
Ginavee Mowles, a 5-foot-6 senior, led Colbert with 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the floor.
With the victory, Verdigris advanced to the fifth-place game against Erick on Saturday at noon.
